# API: data_use

The `/api/v1/data_use` routes are used to create, read, update, and delete the [Data Uses](/content/docs/data-mapping/reference/glossary#data-use/index.html) within the Fides platform. Data Uses can be customized but we recommend you use the [Fideslang (opens in a new tab)](https://ethyca.github.io/fideslang/explorer/) taxonomy.
